What is counselling?

Many people find that they benefit from sharing their troubles, symptoms and reoccurring patterns of behaviour and thought with a trained counsellor who will actively listen and understand. Being able to talk about thoughts, feelings and actions, without fear of being judged or criticised, can be a tremendous relief.

Is counselling for me?

Counselling is for everyone who needs support and a place to be seen and heard, without the fear of feeling judged or misunderstood. A place to express feelings and thoughts.
A safe place for you.

What actually happens in a counselling session?

Each one-to-one session will last 50 minutes and will take place on a weekly basis. I will not ask you lots of questions as I believe it is essential to give you the time and space to express your feelings. We will talk through what you chose to bring to the sessions - what issues are concerning you. I realize this may feel strange to begin with.

How long does counselling last?

We will agree together a limited or open-ended contract depending on your needs and circumstances.

Is this service confidential?

Yes. I work with my belief and the guide lines of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) code of Ethics and Practice for which I am a member.

Will you see people with drug abuse problems?

Yes, I am qualified to see people with these concerns.

How much am I expecting to pay?

My current fees are £30 - £40 per session but this can be discussed in relation to your circumstances.

There is an assesment fee of £40. Assesment duration is 50 minutes which gives us an opportunity to meet and discuss your needs before we begin to work together. You are not obligated in anyway to commence counselling after your initial assessment.
